Description

The Schlachthaus culture café offers free space for young people working in the arts and those interested in youth and subculture. The Schlachthaus culture café acts as a lively meeting place and is often the first point of contact for young people in Dornbirns open youth work. Its diverse program offers a wide range of events, including concerts, dance events, film screenings, lectures, and music and technology workshops. The local hip hop scene in particular values the Schlachthaus as an important place that enables breakdance battles and jams, graffiti workshops, and DJ/DJane and open mic sessions. The program is designed in close cooperation with young people and aims to serve specific niches - commercial mainstream is not the focus. Numerous up-and-coming young bands and artists from Vorarlberg and the surrounding area use the Schlachthaus to gain their first stage experience and live out their subcultures. At the same time, the Schlachthaus attracts experienced bands, musicians and artists from home and abroad, who have made the place known as a scene meeting place far beyond the countrys borders.
