VertretungsNetz – Resident Representation

Description

The resident representatives at VertretungsNetz advocate for supported individuals to not be unnecessarily restricted in their freedom of movement. The basis of their work is the Home Residence Act. The resident representatives review freedom restrictions, encourage testing alternatives, and, if necessary, submit a request to the relevant district court for a review of the freedom restriction. In the judicial review process, the resident representatives represent the interests of the resident.

Special features and further information

The aim of the resident representation is to contribute to a life as self-determined as possible in care facilities. The resident representatives protect the fundamental right to personal freedom of people with mental illnesses or intellectual disabilities in the following facilities: nursing homes, facilities for people with disabilities, facilities for the care and education of minors (including special schools and daycare centers), other similar facilities, and hospitals.
