Our many years of experience show that children and adolescents are best supported after their parents' separation or divorce in a RAINBOWS group. Under the professional guidance of a RAINBOWS staff member, this group-based program also offers the important exchange with peers. RAINBOWS groups primarily start in spring and autumn. This can lead to long waiting times, even when a child needs relief quickly. It may also be that a suitable RAINBOWS group cannot be formed at the requested location for all registered children. Individual support relieves and strengthens children and adolescents during the difficult upheaval of separation and makes it easier for them to cope with the new family situation and accept the changes. Individual support is for children and adolescents: - who would have to endure a long wait until the next group start - who are highly burdened by the family situation - who are exhibiting changed behavior - who need immediate relief Contents/Topics - My family - Feelings - Self-confidence - Future perspectives Procedure - At the beginning there is a detailed conversation with the registering parent (ideally with both parents), in which parents learn how they can best support their child now. It will also be determined whether the child needs individual support before the group starts. - Four sessions of 60 minutes each with the child at individually agreed times before the RAINBOWS group starts. - Six sessions if it is foreseeable that no suitable RAINBOWS group will be formed in the next six months or if participation in a group is not possible for other reasons. - Final meeting with the parents. - A meeting with the other parent if a joint parent meeting is not possible.
