Description

A mental illness turns family life upside down and causes a lot of uncertainty and fear. With the project “SHADOW STORMER – Strengthened from the shadows into the sun” we want to help families and especially children and young people to better deal with the mental illness of their parent. Our project includes the following services: 1. Advice for families with a mentally ill parent When a parent becomes ill or their thinking, feeling and actions change in such a way that difficult situations arise in family life, many questions arise. How do I explain to my child what a mental illness is? Should my child have contact with the sick parent during an acute phase of illness? My child is withdrawing more and more. Should I be worried? What can help my family and especially my child now? You are welcome to contact us with any questions you have about mental illness and your child’s experience. 2. SCHATTENSTÜRMER individual support/family support Especially in very stressful phases, it sometimes takes too long for families to get a group started. In such situations, we are happy to offer individual family support. The topics and content of the individual meetings are: Mental illness: child-friendly explanations, questions Feelings (fear, shame, worry, anger, etc.) Dealing with difficult situations in the family and outside Emergency plans
