"Here, people with hearing impairments can receive social counseling for all areas of life. They offer advice on topics like housing, family, health, and senior clubs – in sign language, spoken language, and other forms of communication. At the workplace, job coaches support both people with hearing disabilities and their colleagues and supervisors. This service is free for everyone. The sign language interpreting center arranges and coordinates the work of sign language interpreters for workplaces, training, public life, private appointments, and can be used for free by individuals, clubs, institutions, and companies. Sign language interpreters translate from spoken German to Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) and vice versa. The written interpreting center coordinates the work of written interpreters. Written interpreters write down spoken words. The text can be written exactly as said, summarized, or simplified. This way, the person with a hearing impairment can read on a screen, tablet, or projector what is being said. Both centers schedule appointments, clarify costs in advance, and inform the clients afterward. This makes communication barrier-free, allowing the person with a hearing impairment to actively participate."
