Description
Apropos is a non-partisan, social newspaper project of Soziale Arbeit gGmbH and has been helping people in social difficulties to help themselves since 1997. The street newspaper is produced by professional journalists and sold by men and women who are homeless, without housing and/or looking for long-term work. In the Writing Workshop section, Apropos sellers have the opportunity to articulate their experiences and concerns independently. This mouthpiece function is unique in the media world. Apropos appears monthly. The sellers buy the newspaper in advance for 1.50 euros and sell it for 3 euros. Apropos is affiliated with the International Network of Street Newspapers (INSP). The charter, which was signed in London in 1995, stipulates that the street newspapers use all profits to support their sellers. Each issue has a main theme such as In connection, Transitions, Joie de vivre, Pointing the way or Free. With Apropos, it is important to us to convey hope and to view crises as moments of change. Every month, professional journalists and those affected tell good stories, report on social backgrounds and offer insights into different living environments. There are a total of 8 street newspapers in Austria. If you want to find out more about them, here is a brief overview: http://www.strassenzeitung.at/
